We had our first midwife consultation this morning. While we were waiting for her to arrive, Amanda vomited for the first time from morning sickness. Our dog, Piper, was very concerned and accompanied her to the toilet.
The midwife arrived as the vomiting subsided. She congratulated Amanda on this milestone pointing out it’s a great sign that the pregnancy is normal.

Where Do Babies Come From?
By
Garry
Close to six years ago, Amanda and I thought about getting pregnant. When exploring the idea we did a lot of reading, thinking and talking about how to literally have the baby (our birth plan). We eventually decided to wait on the baby, but have not wavered in the decision we had previously reached to have a homebirth with a midwife. The area we live in is very supportive of “alternative births*” and has a great network of midwives.
*it is odd to consider the way birth has been conducted for 99.99% of history is now considered alternative.
